Dr Hussain Ahmed, a dentist by profession, graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2003 and has spent most of his life living and working in Birmingham, UK. A busy father of three boys, he first became involved in mosque-building charity work after taking part in a fundraising climb of Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania, Africa) to help build a masjid for a disadvantaged community in Kenya. During this journey, he also met several persons who would later become part of the Legacy 99 leadership team.

In Ramadan 2023, he was inspired to embark on a much greater mission — to build 99 mosques, each named after one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. After sharing this vision of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) with some close friends, they came together to establish the charity Legacy 99.
