Roruks is a predominantly Muslim community Sierra Leone.

The community’s previous mosque was in a severely dilapidated condition, posing significant safety risks to worshippers. Due to its poor structural state, many residents are unable to attend congregational prayers and were instead compelled to pray at home.

Roruks is a low-income community where most residents depend on subsistence farming and petty trading for their livelihoods. Household incomes are generally low, as agricultural production is mainly for household consumption with very little surplus for sale. These limited economic opportunities made it difficult for the community to raise funds to rebuild their mosque.

Legacy 99 stepped in and commissioned the construction of a new mosque for the community. The previous structure was demolished and replaced with a newly built mosque.

Requirements include:

• Capacity of 300 worshippers

• Wudu Area

• Sound System

• Water Hand Pump Well

• Budget: £11,000

In 2026, we successfully funded the construction of the mosque to serve the community. God-willing, its impact will be profound and far-reaching:

• Worship: A dedicated prayer space for 300 worshippers, with a growing congregation.

• Education: A central location for Quran and Islamic studies for children and adults.

• Support: Functioning as a centre for charitable efforts, food distribution, and social welfare for struggling families.

• Ongoing Reward (Sadaqah Jariyah): Donors will be rewarded (hasanat) for every prayer, lesson and act of worship at the mosque.
