Masjid Al-Mumin
Location: Sierra Leone, West Africa
Capacity: 300 worshippers
Status: Under Construction
-
Roruks is a predominantly Muslim community Sierra Leone.
The community’s mosque is currently in a severely dilapidated condition, posing significant safety risks to worshippers. Due to its poor structural state, many residents are unable to attend congregational prayers and are instead compelled to pray at home.
Roruks is a low-income community where most residents depend on subsistence farming and petty trading for their livelihoods. Household incomes are generally low, as agricultural production is mainly for household consumption with very little surplus for sale. These limited economic opportunities have made it difficult for the community to raise funds to rebuild their mosque.
Legacy 99 has therefore commissioned the construction of a new mosque for the community. The existing structure will be demolished and replaced with a newly built mosque.
